Family Constellations were developed by Bert Hellinger and are rooted in systemic theory. Systemic work is based on the understanding that individuals function within interconnected systems — such as family systems, organizational systems, and cultural contexts. These systems influence behavior, beliefs, relational patterns, and decision-making, often beyond conscious awareness.
Research and clinical experience within systemic therapy suggest that unresolved events, exclusions, role reversals, and transgenerational dynamics can continue to affect later generations. Constellation work offers a structured, experiential method to make these implicit relational patterns visible.
By spatially representing elements of a system (for example, family members or professional roles), underlying dynamics can emerge in a phenomenological way. This process often creates clarity, reframing, and new perspectives that may support therapeutic, personal, or organizational development.
